Be a Coffee Superhero

Buy organically grown coffee grown by a small-scale farmer who is being paid a fair price by a roaster who has visited the farm.

The Coffee Superhero project seeks to explain the impact buying choices make in a creative way and to honor those in the industry who often get overlooked. The first in this series is Barista Boy & Bongo Baby, who search the world for sustainable coffee. New Superhero tribute coffees will be released soon.

Coffee Superheroes include Kurt Lightner who drew the characters, loosely based on my sons. Elaina Nelson and The PCKG Company whose belief and love of this project shows up in the final design and product. Bongo Roasting Co. whose coffee has been Barista Boy & Bongo Baby approved since 1996. My parents who inspired me to think differently. My wife who encouraged me to ignore the noise, listen to myself and push everything further. And my boys who inspire me to do and be better.

Because of all the above and my belief that business should be about more than dollars and quality coffee should be more than about taste, this has been one of the most fun projects I have ever been involved in.

And it has been an Award Winner! We won the World Coffee Innovation Awards 2026 Innovative Brand & Packaging Award at The 2026 World Coffee Expo!
